Portmarnock AFC Kids Blitz

Portmarnock AFC will be hosting a Kids Soccer Blitz on Saturday July 2nd 2005, at Paddy's Hill, Portmarnock, Co. Dublin. All parents/guardians are asked to bring those attending the blitz to the clubhouse to receive their special registration packs at 9:30am.

TopFAI Pepsi Summer School
July 4th-8th, August 22nd-26th, 2005
Portmarnock AFC will be hosting the FAI Pepsi Summer School on two dates this summer. The first programme starts on Monday July 4th 2005 and ends on Friday July 8th, at Paddy's Hill, Portmarnock, Co. Dublin. The second programme runs between Monday August 22nd and Friday August 26th.

TopPromotion to the Premier Division for Portmarnock’s Under 13 Major Side
Templeogue United 1 - 2 Portmarnock
Portmarnock’s Under 13 Major team won a fine away victory over Templeogue United on Thursday, June 2, 2005 to secure promotion for next season to the Dublin & District Schoolboy League Under 14 Premier Division.
Striker Karl Sheppard was the hero for Portmarnock scoring twice to win the three points needed to ensure promotion. Karl, who is a member of the DDSL representative Dublin Academy Under 13 School, netted 38 goals in the league and eight in Cup competitions bringing his total tally to 46 goals for the season. Indeed Karl and his team mates had an excellent season winning 20 league and Cup games, drawing twice and losing on just six occasions all season.
"It was a great year," said Team Manager Mick Lawlor. "We scored 58 goals in 22 league matches making it a very successful season. We had to beat Templeogue in the final game to get promoted. A draw and we would have lost out on goal difference. They were very competitive and we had to defend for the whole of the last ten minutes of the game."
St. Patrick's Athletic won the Under 13 Major league by a margin of five points and beat Portmarnock twice during the season by just one goal on each occasion.
Four members of the Portmarnock team have been with the side since Under 7 level. They are Karl Sheppard, Morgan O'Reilly, Stephen Rusk and Ben Geraghty. Some of the other players joined the set up at Under 8 and Under 9 level. "We've a great bunch of players and I'm really looking forward to next season although we may have to bring in one or two new players to strengthen us for the Premier Division," said Mick Lawlor who is assisted by Joe O'Reilly.

Karl Sheppard was part of the recent DDSL team which won the Kennedy Cup. As well as representing the DDSL, his performances also earned him a place in the 'Team of the Tournament'. Karl plays with Portmarnock’s Under 13 team who recently won the Major league title.
