Portmarnock U16 Girls Make History
26.03.08

Today was an historic day for the NDSL with the playing of the first Under 16 Representative Team match against Pwelhelli from Wales. Portmarnock AFC should be very proud of its contingent of girls from our club who played for the NDSL Team.

Despite losing 1–0 on the day the NDSL Girls had most of the play and although this as their first matches playing together they showed that with a few more games under their belt they will become a formidable team.

Great credit should be given to Dan and Carlie from the NDSL who look after the team.

Our 5 girls played a major part in the game and tomorrow (27th March) 3 more of our players, Katie Hanley, Ashling Glover and Laura Murphy will play with the NDSL Representative Team.

The final Squad has not yet been decided upon but here is hoping some of our girls make the cut.

Congratulations to all concerned and best of luck especially to the Portmarnock girls!

The five Portmarnock AFC players before the game Portmarnock AFC players before the historic NDSL representatives first competitive match are: Naomi Andreceutti, Gill Carney, Lucy Travers, Shauna Cummins and Emer Tansey.

Also special mention should be paid to the following girls who also will represent the league tomorrow – Ashling Glover, Katie Hanley and Laura Murphy. We wish them all the best for their game.

Well done to both the girls and the management team.

It should also be mentioned that the girls will be hosting an Under 16 team who are traveling from Kerry and will play a match in Paddy’s Hill. We would like as many people as possible to go and support the girls, as they shall be putting on a display of football skills that could probably put some of our boys teams to shame.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The FAI will hold a "Code OF Ethics" review at 8:00pm on Monday the 10th of March in the P.S.L.C.

All assistant/managers and bottle carriers of schoolboys/girls must attend this meeting, no excuses, as this is a very important subject when working with schoolboys/girls.

We have 18 schoolboy teams and as a club we must be seen as been proactive with updating and informing our coaches.

If you have any parents you feel would benefit from this please invite them along.
